Team volunteers joined more than a million Australians for Clean Up Australia Day 2024, spending a morning collecting and sorting rubbish along a nearby waterway and creek.
Some community initiatives need nothing more than a pair of gloves, a rubbish bag and a few hours of a Sunday morning. Clean Up Australia Day is one of them and this year the team stepped up to play its part.
The volunteers spent the morning working along a nearby waterway and creek, collecting everything from everyday litter to some genuinely curious finds. By the end of the session, all of the rubbish had been sorted, recycled, reported and safely disposed of.
Clean Up Australia Day has grown into one of the country’s largest community environmental events, with more than a million Australians taking part in activities each year. For businesses, it offers a simple and practical way to contribute to the places where their people live and work.
That thinking sits behind the company’s involvement. Construction is a visible presence in the community and initiatives like this are a chance to have a positive impact on the world beyond the site fence, looking after the beaches, parks, waterways and wildlife that make South East Queensland what it is.
The day also serves as a reminder that environmental care is built from small, repeated actions. The same discipline that keeps a construction site clean and sorted applies just as readily to a creek bank on a Sunday morning.
A big thank you goes to the volunteers who gave up their time, filled their bags and made the event a success. The team looks forward to backing up again next year.
