Staff and their partners gathered at the Story Bridge Hotel on 29 November for the 2025 Christmas Long Lunch, closing out a year of milestones in fitting style.
Some venues suit a construction company Christmas party better than others, and it is hard to beat a famous pub sitting in the shadow of the iconic Story Bridge.
The Tomkins team and their partners came together at Deery’s Restaurant | Steak + Wine at the Story Bridge Hotel for the annual Christmas Long Lunch, a long afternoon of good food and better company to mark the end of the working year.
The lunch is a deliberate double acknowledgement. It recognises the hard work of the staff across every project and department, and just as importantly, the support their partners provide throughout the year. Construction is demanding on the people who do it and on the families around them, and the contribution both make to the success of the business deserves its moment.
The afternoon also carried a formal moment, with service awards presented to recognise the year’s milestones of tenure. Sherryn Davidson was celebrated for 15 years with the business, Anthony Gray for 10 years and Jason Burr for five years, while Toby Burgman, Dustin Fredin and Greg Knox each marked three years of service. Between them, the six recipients represent every corner of the operation, from head office to the site sheds and nearly 40 combined years of contribution to the business.
There was plenty to raise a glass to. Across 2025 the team delivered Rockpool at Rainbow Bay and East Point in Ipswich, topped out and then demobilised the cranes at Skye by Pikos, moved Harbour One through to handover at Sanctuary Cove and was appointed builder for Freshwater Village at Griffin, all while the cadet programme and safety campaigns rolled on in the background.
Fittingly, the celebration took place at Kangaroo Point, the same suburb where much of that year’s work played out just around the corner at Skye.
