The team gathered to mark International Women’s Day 2025, with Mike Tomkins recognising the women across the business and the year’s Accelerate Action theme front of mind.
The celebration recognised the contributions of women across the business and the wider construction industry. Speaking at the event, Mike Tomkins told the gathering how fortunate he was to have such a talented group of women as part of the business.
“Women play an important role in the construction industry, offering balanced perspectives and alternative views,” Mike said. “I couldn’t be prouder of the amazing work that you do.”
International Women’s Day is marked around the world each March, and this year’s theme, Accelerate Action, called for faster and more deliberate progress on gender equality. The message carries particular weight in construction, an industry where women remain under-represented.
The numbers across the business tell their own story. Women make up 50 per cent of the Executive Leadership Team and 40 per cent of Cadet Programme participants. Across the company, women represent 20 per cent of the team, exceeding the construction industry average.
Those figures are matched by the breadth of roles women hold across the business, spanning construction delivery, finance, design, safety and corporate services. The company’s commitment to gender diversity is reflected in the outstanding women who help drive its success, on site and in the office.
Events like this sit alongside a broader effort to support and empower the women of the business, from the cadet intake through to executive leadership, as the industry works toward a more inclusive future.
