Think Safe Be Safe: Safety in Action Across 2025

From working safely in heat over summer to Men’s Health Week in June, the Think Safe Be Safe programme has set a monthly safety focus across every Brisbane and Gold Coast worksite in 2025.

The programme works to a monthly rhythm, with each topic matched to the season and to the risks most present on site at the time.

The year opened with a two-month focus on working safely in heat. As summer temperatures rose, teams were briefed on recognising heat-related risks, knowing the warning signs and applying practical controls: drinking plenty of water, seeking shade and applying sunscreen, wearing light and loose-fitting clothing and taking breaks as required. Heat exposure risks were assessed through SWMS reviews, pre-start meetings and job task planning on every site.

February turned attention to individual responsibility, with campaigns on each worker’s role in workplace safety and the importance of scaffold safety. The same month, subcontractors were recognised on site for their commitment to best safety practice, acknowledging the role trade partners play in upholding the Think Safe Be Safe ethos every day.

Staff training continued alongside the campaigns, with team members Anthony and Garret completing fire warden training in February, equipping them to manage unexpected situations and keep worksites safe.

In May, the focus shifted to two priority areas: looking out for young workers and staying alert to electrical risks on site. Supporting newer team members builds confidence and capability, while electrical hazards demand full attention with no room for complacency.

June brought Men’s Health Week and a message that extends beyond the site boundary: See Your GP. The campaign encouraged the team to check on their own health with the same discipline applied to tools and machinery, from mental health to the physical issues that too often go undiscussed.

Each campaign follows the same principle: practical action over broad statements. Topics are assessed in SWMS reviews, raised at pre-starts and reinforced through job task planning, keeping the programme embedded in daily site routines. The Think Safe Be Safe programme continues through the remainder of 2025.
