The monthly Think Safe Be Safe safety award has recognised subcontractors across Harbour One, the Australia Post site, Midwater and Buddina in 2024, celebrating the trades who lift safety standards.
Safety culture is not built by the company alone. It is built by every subcontractor who plans a task properly, speaks up early and looks out for the crew around them, and that is exactly what the monthly safety award exists to recognise.
Under the Think Safe Be Safe programme, each month subcontractors who have made a positive impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of their project or worksite are awarded for their contribution. The 2024 honour roll shows the breadth of that impact.
In March, three recipients were recognised at once: John on the Buddina project, Branden on one of the industrial projects and Zac from Instyle Electrical on the Gold Coast.
July produced a standout in Chris Boulton from GCQ Electrical at the Harbour One project, Sanctuary Cove. Chris earned his award for the outstanding planning and execution of a cable pull task that significantly reduced risks and improved site accessibility, a textbook example of safety and productivity working together. The same month, Kyle Linnett of Universal Civil Contracting was recognised at the Australia Post site, with Ben and Kylie on hand to present the award, while Tallis Domingues Pires from Toko Steel received the honour at the Midwater site on the Gold Coast, presented by Jason.
August’s award went to Isaac, a third-year apprentice electrician from KK Contracting, recognised at the Buddina site for his dedication to safety. His award landed alongside a toolbox talk on managing young workers, underlining the positive, open culture the programme aims to build among young workers, cadets and apprentices.
Congratulations to every recipient, and thanks to all the trade partners who demonstrate the Think Safe Be Safe approach on site every day.
