Situated within Brisbane Airport Corporation’s Export Park precinct and in close proximity to the Brisbane domestic terminal, the project demanded careful management of construction activities throughout the programme. Tomkins reduced the number of concrete pours required by adopting a dual feed approach, with pours scheduled in the early hours of the morning to manage slab quality, minimise wind-related cracking risk and limit noise and traffic disruption to the surrounding precinct.

The technical services area presented significant coordination challenges. Purpose-built for Miele’s appliance testing and repair operations, the area required a precise set-out of fixed benching, overhanging power points and roof services, along with multiple water, power and gas connection points to service domestic bays, vacuum bays and a double professional bay. Ongoing coordination between trades was essential to deliver the area to Miele’s operational requirements.

The facade treatment reflects Miele’s brand identity directly in the architecture. External elements were custom-fabricated and powder-coated to match Miele’s signature red, requiring close collaboration with suppliers and careful sequencing to achieve the finished result. Work outside standard hours was undertaken where necessary to maintain programme and meet the client’s expectations.
