PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Tomkins delivered a large-scale refurbishment of two buildings in Fortitude Valley’s James Street precinct, upgrading façades, awnings and retail spaces. The project enhanced the precinct’s premium retail character with high-quality finishes and new landscaping. Our team managed construction in a live environment, ensuring uninterrupted trading for tenants.

The redevelopment involved significant works across both James Street and Wandoo Street frontages. On James Street, existing awnings were removed and replaced with structural steel and precast panel awnings, complemented by new lighting, landscaping and signage. The Wandoo Street building was extensively refurbished with new façades, glazing, planters, stone cladding, signage, and upgraded services, while a complete re-roofing was carried out to modern standards.

Careful planning was essential to deliver the works within the busy retail precinct. Restricted site access and the need to minimise disruption to surrounding businesses meant specialised equipment and after-hours works were often required. The result is a high-quality commercial space that uplifted the precinct’s street appeal and created opportunities for premium retail tenants.
