PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Tomkins delivered a new three-storey general learning area (GLA) building for Iona College’s Primary campus, known as the Zinelli Building. Built under a Design and Construct contract, the facility provides two general learning areas per level across three storeys, along with four flexible learning classrooms, verandas, a lift and a large amenities block on the lower ground floor. The project was completed on time and within budget, meeting all of Iona College’s project objectives. It marks the second major project Tomkins has delivered for Iona College, following the successful completion of the Provence Centre.

The Zinelli Building provides Iona College with a new three-storey primary education facility, featuring two general learning areas per level and four flexible learning classrooms supported by verandas, outdoor learning spaces and a lift for accessibility across all levels. A large amenities block is located on the lower ground floor.

The undercroft area beneath the building provides additional recreational space, with proximity to the school’s sporting fields improving accessibility for students and weekend visitors. A new covered walkway connects the facility to existing buildings within the college, supporting ease of movement for Iona’s student cohort. All landscaping surrounding the building was completed by the Tomkins team.

Construction was carefully staged around classroom hours and school holidays to minimise disruption to students’ education, with monthly stakeholder meetings and site walkthroughs held throughout the build to align the project with Iona College’s requirements. The project also created opportunities for local businesses to contribute, reflecting Tomkins’ broader commitment to community engagement.

This is the second major project Tomkins has delivered for Iona College, following the Provence Centre, and reflects the trusted, ongoing relationship between Tomkins and the College.

Tomkins has delivered a new three-storey general learning facility for Iona College’s Primary campus, providing modern, flexible classroom spaces, improved connectivity across the school and additional recreational space beneath the building. Completed on time and within budget, the Zinelli Building enhances the learning environment for Iona’s primary students and continues Tomkins’ long-standing relationship with the College.
