PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Tomkins delivered the retail fitout of Amart Furniture and associated tenancies at Home Co. Toowoomba, a large-format retail centre in Queensland’s Darling Downs region. The project involved the construction and fitout of multiple furniture showroom tenancies within the centre, providing national retail brands with purpose-built display environments designed to accommodate large furniture ranges and high volumes of customer traffic.

The completed tenancies are occupied by Amart Furniture, Plush Think Sofas, Nick Scali, Early Settler, OZ Design Furniture, and Choice The Discount Store, establishing Home Co. Toowoomba as the region’s primary destination for home furnishing retail.

Home Co. Toowoomba brings together six of Australia’s leading furniture and homewares retailers under one roof, serving the growing residential market across the Darling Downs. Tomkins delivered the retail construction works within an active centre environment, coordinating programme and trades to meet the operational requirements of multiple tenants with separate fitout specifications and opening timelines.

Each tenancy was constructed to the individual brand standards of its occupying retailer, incorporating carpeted display floors, open-grid suspended ceiling systems, feature display columns and wall joinery, track and recessed lighting, and glazed shopfront entries. The Plush Think Sofas tenancy features a full-height dark fascia and open shopfront format typical of the brand’s national fitout programme. The Amart Furniture tenancy accommodates large-format furniture display across a substantial showroom floor, supported by a fabric and customisation display area and staffed service counter.

Works were delivered within a live retail environment, requiring strict management of public interfaces, hoarding, and site access throughout the construction programme.
