PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Tomkins delivered the refurbishment of the former Masters store at Tingalpa, transforming the existing building into Home Consortium’s second Queensland bulky goods retail centre. The project involved the creation of six new retail tenancies, together with extensive base build works and services upgrades throughout the existing facility.

Tomkins also delivered warm shell fit-outs for BCF and The Good Guys and a complete fit-out for Anaconda, coordinating the works within a demanding construction programme.

The transformation required significant modification of the former Masters building to accommodate its new retail use. Works included new electrical distribution and base build hydraulic services to each tenancy, infilling the existing garden centre roof and walls, and resurfacing existing floors in preparation for the new retail spaces.

The new retail mall was completed with epoxy flooring and feature ceilings to the mall entry, creating a contemporary environment consistent with the Home Consortium retail format.

Throughout construction, Tomkins managed 16 floor plan revisions and 50 head contract variations while maintaining the original project timeframe. This required close coordination between the client, consultants, tenants and subcontractors, supported by extended working hours, seven-day operations and night shifts where required.

The Home Consortium Tingalpa project demonstrates Tomkins’ capability to transform existing large-format retail assets into modern multi-tenancy centres. Despite substantial design development and additional works during construction, the team maintained a strong relationship with the client and successfully delivered the project within the original timeframe.
