Tomkins was engaged to undertake the Design and Construct conversion of the former Masters hardware store at Morayfield into a Home Consortium bulky goods retail centre. The project included all base build and services works, together with the creation of six new retail tenancies within the existing building.
Tomkins also completed full retail fit-outs for Choices, Nick Scali and Amart, coordinating the tenant works alongside the broader base build programme
The conversion involved significant modifications to the existing Masters building, including new electrical distribution and base build hydraulic services to each tenancy. Tomkins also infilled the former garden centre roof and walls, resurfaced existing flooring and upgraded fire, mechanical and security services throughout the centre.
The completed retail mall features high-quality epoxy-coated flooring, a key feature of the Home Consortium retail format.
Communication and coordination were critical throughout delivery, with Tomkins working closely with the client, tenants and other stakeholders to integrate the base build and individual tenancy requirements. Despite a tight programme, the team managed 17 floor plan revisions and 50 client and tenant-requested changes during construction, undertaking seven-day operations and night shifts where required to complete the project within the original timeframe.
The Home Consortium Morayfield project demonstrates Tomkins’ capability in the Design and Construct delivery of complex retail conversions, combining extensive base build works with individual tenant fit-outs. Through careful coordination and a strong working relationship with the client and project stakeholders, the team successfully accommodated significant changes during construction while maintaining the original delivery timeframe.
