PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Tomkins delivered the ACU Health Clinic at Australian Catholic University’s Banyo campus, an award winning addition built to meet growing demand for teaching space within the Health Sciences Faculty. Delivered under a Design and Construct contract, the building established new consulting rooms for neurological medicine, spinal rehabilitation and musculo-skeletal therapies, giving specific health worker disciplines a purpose built, state of the art teaching environment with a direct, hand in glove link between classroom and clinical technician.

Delivered within a live and operational university campus, the ACU Health Clinic required construction staging and services works to be carefully sequenced around Australian Catholic University’s ongoing curriculum timetable, minimising disruption to teaching and campus operations throughout the build.

The programme also had to accommodate wet weather delays without compromising agreed project milestones, calling for strict site coordination and proactive programme management from the Tomkins team.

Behind the walls, the project involved detailed and complex services supply, upgrades and cross-overs, each following a pre-arranged process to meet Australian Catholic University’s Principal Project Requirements.

Internally, finishes were selected to suit a working teaching and clinical environment. Pre-finished compressed fibre cement sheeting, a high level of acoustic treatment and one-way mirrors within observation spaces demanded a high standard of workmanship, supporting the building’s role in linking classroom learning directly to clinical practice.

Externally, the building is distinguished by a cantilevered feature clad in translucent orange panelling, contrasted against a predominantly white facade, giving the ACU Health Clinic a distinct visual identity on the Banyo campus.

“
