Preserving the old façade and installing the green wall was complex. The retention of the existing brick façade required an engineer to ensure adequate support was maintained during the demolition and construction phases until it could be installed within the new building structure. The 30m2 living green wall located on the entry wall off Wagner Road also required engineering by a fire & structural engineer to certify the combustibility was fire engineered and accepted by QFES and the Building Certifier as well as the structural integrity of the Green wall support and potting system. The team at Tomkins worked closely with the engineers to ensure the project was completed with safety and quality at the forefront.
College Junction is in the heart of Brisbane’s inner north, situated on the corner of Wagner Road and major arterial Sandgate Road in Clayfield. This prominent and congested location was carefully managed by the Tomkins team to avoid traffic and local community disruption, and ensured the project was delivered on time.
Critical to the delivery success of the project is the close relationship Tomkins has with the client and their team ultimately leading to Tomkins being engaged to deliver 1,482sqm of high quality integrated office fitout for QScan.
