Being a Minor Works project for us did not in any way diminish the attention given to this job and the project team needed their ‘A game’ to deliver. Situated at the base of one of the Mater Hospitals oldest and Heritage listed buildings, presented a unique set of risks and challenges to be overcome.

Adjacent to the main traffic entry/exit and thoroughfare for the Hospital precinct our deliveries needed strict management and coordination. In addition and unbeknown to the Client, the age of the building and number of historic upgrades had hidden the extent of Asbestos Containing Materials all of which had to be removed in this phase. A technical project also in the way of Services due to the upgrades required to existing installations and the extent of cross-over and mitigation to supply loss of those not to be interrupted. This planned upgrade of the ground level entry to the building was to facilitate the relocation of the precinct Security Services and as such our scope provided to deliver the much needed Administration, Amenities and public enquiry interface areas associated with these services.
