Tomkins has completed construction of Hikari Apartments in Fortitude Valley, 31 modern one and two-bedroom apartments over eight levels, including a two-level basement and rooftop entertainment terrace.
Combining glass, timber and artistic façades, Hikari Apartments adds aesthetic appeal to the streetscape while offering residents a welcoming, quality and beautifully appointed home. Each spacious apartment has its own balcony allowing residents to enjoy Queensland”s beautiful weather, while upper-level apartments provide views to the Story Bridge and Brisbane CBD or towards Newstead and New Farm.
Socialising is made easy with a rooftop recreational area comprising of BBQ, ample seating, and a communal vegetable garden. Hikari Apartments also offers 31 bike storage compartments, secure undercover parking and multipurpose mixed-use offerings on the ground level. Not without its challenge, this project was built to the boundary on three elevations, which required detailed coordination with neighbouring property owners and the associated access deeds to complete works. The project team also encountered very high strength ‘Brisbane Tuff Rock” (360Mpa) during excavation, which resulted in an extended bulk excavation process and use of 1800mm diameter rock saws.
