The Tomkins team has successfully delivered Centuria Industrial REIT’s (ASX: CIP) industrial facility in Bundamba. The 10,244m2 warehouse features a 600m2 office space, a 9,100m2 concrete hardstand with dual-crossover B-Double access and 13 on-grade roller shutter doors.
This is one of Australia’s first 5 Star Green Star – Design & As Built Certified industrial building under the Green Building Council Australia’s (GBCA) new rating guidelines v1.3. Founded by Green Building Council of Australia in 2003, Green Star is an internationally recognised rating system setting the standard for healthy, resilient, positive buildings and places.
Designing a warehouse to achieve 5 Star Green Star Design and As Built certification required all construction processes to be carefully planned and delivered to ensure compliance. The assistance of a Green Star consultant ensured the design and construction elements met the Green Building Council Australia’s (GBCA) requirements for an industrial building, and exceeded the client’s expectations for the project.
In addition to the building features constructed to support the facility’s sustainable operation (a 99kW rooftop solar system, rainwater harvesting for the amenities/irrigation system and integrated usage metering of electrical, mechanical and hydraulic services), Tomkins also achieved set targets to utlilise over 14.5% of recycled materials for the project. These resources ranging from recycled CBR, aggregate within concrete, reinforcement material, roofing materials, plaster and other types of materials.
Tomkins Commercial were proud to be awarded both the Regional and State 2022 Master Builders Queensland Award in the ‘Excellence in Energy Efficiency and Environmental Management’ category.
Mike Tomkins commented, “It’s great to see our team being recognised and rewarded for all their hard work on this project! Tomkins are committed to encouraging growth and embracing innovation to help ensure we remain a business that actively contributes to a sustainable construction industry and furthermore a better world.
“By working closely with our clients to share knowledge and experience, we continue to influence the growth and adoption of sustainable building practices throughout the industry.”
