Cranes and Scaffold Come Down as Skye Fitout Ramps Up

A Skye by Pikos tower at Kangaroo Point with its facade partially revealed as blue Pikos and Tomkins branded scaffold mesh is progressively removed, a tower crane standing alongside and trucks and workers managing the demobilisation at street level.

The first tower crane has been demobilised at Skye by Pikos, with scaffold progressively coming off the three towers as fitout accelerates above the Kangaroo Point Cliffs.

It is a significant change for a site that has been under crane coverage since the earliest structural works, which followed a basement excavation removing around 24,000m³ of rock directly above the Clem 7 Tunnel.

Over recent weeks the crane has been carefully dismantled while scaffolding is progressively removed around the towers, maintaining safe access where works continue. A second crane remains in place to support the upper-level works still ahead.

For Kangaroo Point locals and river users, the change is hard to miss. With the scaffold coming down, the towers are now clearly visible from the surrounding streets and across the Brisbane River.

Inside the buildings, fitout is in full swing with every trade contributing to the next stage of delivery. The interiors feature hand-selected Classic Roman Travertine and European oak flooring throughout the residences, with fully integrated V-ZUG appliances to every kitchen.

Built for Pikos Group under a Design and Construct contract, Skye by Pikos comprises three 14-storey towers and 69 luxury residences at 8 River Terrace, commanding 100 metres of uninterrupted river frontage. With just two residences per floor across all three towers, every home is oriented to the Brisbane River, Botanic Gardens, Story Bridge and city skyline.

Crane and scaffold demobilisation is one of the most telling milestones of any residential build, and here it signals a project moving decisively from structure to delivery. Attention now turns to completing the upper-level works, finishing the residences and delivering the rooftop amenity, including a 25-metre heated magnesium infinity pool and sky deck, ahead of completion in early 2026.
