The tower crane at Rivello has been successfully demounted over the weekend, marking a significant milestone for the 22-level residential tower rising within the Portside East precinct at Hamilton.
Not every crane removal doubles as an aviation exercise, but at Rivello the tower crane has spent the entire build operating in carefully managed airspace.
Positioned within the flight paths surrounding Brisbane Airport, the crane was positioned and programmed in consultation with CASA from the outset, fitted with a load-limiting and zoning device to manage oversail restrictions throughout construction. Its demount over the weekend required the same discipline, through precisely coordinated operation executed with teamwork and the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
The milestone signals the project’s transition into its finishing phase. Delivered for Brookfield Properties and designed by Cottee Parker Architects, Rivello comprises 150 premium apartments across 22 levels at Portside East on Brisbane’s inner-north riverfront, ranging from one to five-bedroom configurations along with six ground-floor retail tenancies and 228 car parking spaces.
The building steps up through four podium levels and eleven typical apartment floors to sub-penthouse and penthouse levels featuring private gyms and cinema rooms, crowned by two rooftop recreation decks. The upper deck holds a wet-edge pool, spa, steam room, sauna and BBQ areas.
Construction within the active Portside precinct has demanded careful interface management with neighbouring residents and the established retail and dining strip, including an overhead pedestrian gantry maintaining safe public access throughout the build.
With the crane gone, the focus turns to facade completion and internal finishing as Rivello moves toward completion and takes its place on the Hamilton skyline.
