The quarterly cadet site trip headed to the Sunshine Coast, with host cadet Laynee leading a tour of the beachfront Buddina project and the problem-solving behind it.
The best construction lessons are learned standing inside the building and preferably from someone who has lived the project day to day.
That was the thinking behind the latest quarterly cadet trip, which took the group to the impressive beachfront Buddina project on the Sunshine Coast. These trips offer the company’s future builders a firsthand look at unique projects they have not yet worked on, broadening their exposure beyond their own sites.
Host cadet Laynee led the tour, sharing her insights into the various challenges encountered on site during the build and how the team effectively addressed them. Hearing those solutions explained by a peer, rather than a textbook, is exactly the kind of learning the programme is designed to create.
The visits give cadets the opportunity to learn, discuss and gain valuable insights into problem-solving within the industry. Every project carries its own conditions and a beachfront site brings considerations that an inner-city tower or an industrial estate never will, from coastal exposure to community interface. Seeing that variety early builds rounder construction professionals.
A shout out goes to Laynee for an impressive tour and to the site team at Buddina for their hospitality in hosting the group.
The quarterly trips sit alongside the Lunch and Learn series and day-to-day site placements as core elements of the Cadet Programme, which continues to invest in developing the next generation of leaders in the construction industry across South East Queensland.
