Two site visits in quick succession have taken the cadet group behind the hoardings at a pair of landmark residential builds, from the Gold Coast beachfront to the Brisbane riverside.
The group headed first to Rockpool at Rainbow Bay, then weeks later to Skye by Pikos at Kangaroo Point.
At Rockpool, the group toured the 21-residence beachfront development guided by the experienced site team. The cadets explored the challenges faced on site and learned how the team applies innovative solutions to meet the requirements of a high-quality project on a constrained coastal site.
The following month, cadets headed to Skye by Pikos for a behind-the-scenes look at the three-tower luxury development in action. Senior Project Manager Tony Taylor and Building Cadet Francesca Foxover guided the visit, giving the group valuable insight into the construction processes behind the riverfront residences.
Practical site visits are a core part of the Cadet Programme, providing exposure to real-world construction scenarios and preparing cadets for the next stage of their careers. Seeing programme, quality, safety and trade coordination come together on live projects builds an understanding that cannot be gained from documentation alone.
Both host projects gave the cadets plenty to absorb. Rockpool, designed by Joe Adsett Architects, is in its final construction phase on the beachfront at Coolangatta, while Skye by Pikos is approaching full height above the Kangaroo Point Cliffs.
The Cadet Programme continues to grow, reflecting an ongoing investment in developing the next generation of construction professionals across South East Queensland.
