Tomkins has completed the new Chermside Library & North Regional Business Centre, providing the northside community with state-of-the-art library and public space facilities and increased local Council services.
This impressive new building, encompassing a 3,500m2 library on ground level, two levels of ultramodern office facilities with an integrated fit out for Brisbane City Council, and over 200 car parks across two basement levels achieved a 5 Star Green Star rating and a 5 Star Nabers rating.
The new library facilities will support the community through expansive children’s areas, 24/7 use of meeting rooms with state-of-the-art audio visual facilities, dedicated internet spaces, a family history kiosk, indoor/outdoor café, and spacious reading and quiet zones.
Level 1 and 2 commercial offices embrace current fit out trends for seating flexibility and workstation ergonomic variety through mobile desks and electronically controlled variable height desks.
Constructed with high-quality environmentally sustainable materials complying with the requirements of the Green Star rating, the façade features high-performance glass, architectural metal cladding and sunblades while the basement levels include bicycle parking and end-of-trip facilities for building occupants.
Tomkins Commercial were proud to be awarded the Regional 2017 Master Builders Queensland Award in the ‘Community Service Facility’ category.
