Positioned centrally in the James Street Fortitude Valley retail precinct, this refurbishment project provided significant aesthetic enhancement to the precinct bringing world-class retailers Pottery Barn and West Elm to the precinct. Our detailed scope across the two separate buildings included the removal of existing awning and façade and replaced with a new awning structure along the James St frontage, as well as large scale internal & external demolition and removal of precast panels to the Wandoo St building, new structural steel and roof sheeting, new foundations, new specialised façade brickwork, elevated planters, shop fronts, signage, services upgrades and associated works.

The refreshed building façade has uplifted the precinct and it”s street appeal, bringing a high-end feel to the local area. The building attracts both retailers and onlookers to discover and explore this exclusive tenancy within the James Street Precinct. Specialised trades were selected to ensure a high-quality finish with a strong focus on achieving the architect”s high expectations on the build. The Tomkins team ensured close consultation with the architect and client to maintain this throughout the project. The Tomkins project team strictly managed the works and coordinated activity sequences which ensured adjacent retailers remained operational and unaffected by the works.

“Many thanks to you and the Tomkins project team for the dedication displayed in tackling the redevelopment for the Williams Sonoma Group at James Street. It is never easy working within an existing centre. Your team has been exceptional in effectively addressing the numerous issues that have arisen during the project life – I have been particularly impressed by the manner in which the site team has managed the project and their sub-trades to lessen the impact of the works on the surrounding tenants. Every member of your project team is competent, courteous and diligent in performing their allocated tasks and it has been a pleasure dealing with such an accomplished operation. I can”t speak highly enough of the level of service, the productive relationship and the professionalism that we continue to enjoy with your company – I have no hesitation in recommending Tomkins and am happy to receive a phone call to further elaborate on the comments contained in this letter.”-Calile Malouf, Director, Calile Malouf Investments
