Tomkins has completed the design and construction, two weeks ahead of programme, of the latest industrial facility for Brisbane Airport Corporation, a brand new 1,830m2 warehouse and 450m2 office for Direct Couriers.

The build involved typical industrial features such as a concrete hardstand, asphalt car park, and landscaped areas. The Warehouse construction included a structural steel portal frame with dado concrete tilt panels and metal wall cladding, metal deck roofing, burnished finish warehouse slab, while the Office construction encompassed concrete slab, metal deck roofing, aluminium glazed and CFC cladding facade, internal plasterboard and glazed partitions, grid ceiling, acoustic treatments, carpet and ceramic tiles.

A particular challenge for this project was the Burnished finished warehouse slab, which required a high level of coordination from Tomkins between all trades to ensure the desired finish.

A stand-out feature of this building is the sophisticated Building Management System including C-Bus and Clevertronics control systems, giving Brisbane Airport Corporation full monitoring capabilities of all essential building services whilst the tenant enjoys one-touch control of its working environment and adaptive energy saving measures.

“The project team you appointed have been professional, accommodating, easy to work with and very competent.

The successful completion and delivery of the DHL Express Facility has seen the seamless operational occupation into the facility as planned.

In addition, the solution focused attitude of your company and the ability of the project team to overcome some significant challenges on the job just reinforced Tomkins’ commitment to both client and the tenant.

At every level the quality and commitment has been exceptional and we are particularly impressed and grateful for the personal ownership of the successful completion of this project.”
